Early Years Inclusion and Compliance Specialist (40 hours a week)
Remote/Travel to nurseries
Salary from £41,000 per annum
About the role
The Inclusion and Compliance Specialist is responsible for working in partnership with the Head of Early Years, Safeguarding & Compliance, Nursery Managers and SENCOs to ensure each setting within the company remains compliant specifically with all aspects of SEND and inclusion but from time-to-time other compliance tasks may also be required. The Inclusion and Compliance Specialist will ensure that all aspects of the SEND Code of Practice and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) are adhered to alongside the required standards set by Ofsted, any company policies and best practices.

Key Accountabilities
Take a lead role for inclusion within the company using your excellent knowledge of SEND procedures
Learn each local authority’s specific procedures and paperwork so that support can be given by you within each of our settings
Carry out SEND audits so that you can identify the support needed and the level of compliance at each site
Helps SENCo’s write appropriate targets for each child
Monitor Individual Education Plans (IEP’s) to ensure that they are being completed to a high standard using each child’s specific targets, and that appropriate support takes please with each child
Coach and support staff with SEND strategies with the children including teaching and role modelling SEND support strategies
Monitor applications for graduated funding and deadlines for applications
Support settings to apply for EHCPs when needed
To ensure that partnership with parents
Support preparation for Ofsted inspections for Inclusion compliance
To write the termly SEND newsletter for staff and families
To run the termly SENCO cluster meetings
Proactively keep up to date with the latest developments in SEND/Inclusion and legislative and sector developments
To work with the Head of Early Years, Safeguarding & Compliance to reflect, adapt and update SEND policies and procedures
To work with the Head of Early Years, Safeguarding & Compliance to update the Toad Hall SEND/Inclusion Toolkit
To identify training needs across settings in relation to inclusion and SEND
Deliver and coordinate SEND/Inclusion focussed training
Support the induction of new managers and SENCO’s
To support the Head of Early Years, Safeguarding & Compliance with updating environments when necessary
To work in partnership with the Head of Early Years, Safeguarding & Compliance to ensure that safeguarding and compliance requirements across all settings are effective
To identify and report any practices which do not comply with organisational and/or legal requirements and report immediately
To oversee and co-ordinate the provision of tailored support and interventions to promote the development and well-being of children with SEND.
To work closely with the Head of Early Years Safeguarding & Compliance to ensure that inclusion, quality and safeguarding compliancy across all settings
To receive ongoing training including the Early Years SENCO L3 qualification if not already achieved
To work in partnership with all members of the senior leadership team to ensure the best levels of care, education and safety are adhered to at all times
To coach and mentor the staff team through a variety of ways, including staff meetings, training days and one to one meetings
To support staff with complex cases, multiagency working, and professional meetings
To liaise with external professionals including educational psychologists, health visitors, therapists and local authority SEND teams
To be aware of any financial restraints on the business and act accordingly.
To ensure that staff adhere to legislative and company requirements in relation to health and safety, proactively role modelling safe working practices at all times in relation to health & safety and safeguarding policies.
To ensure the accurate reporting procedure is followed for any near misses, accidents and incidents, implementing preventative measures based on trends and learning from incidents.
Monitor the physical nursery environments during visits and report any concerns to Nursery Manager, Head of Early Years Safeguarding & Compliance or the Co-Head of Nursery Operations and if necessary, Managing Directors.
Ensure settings provide a rich and stimulating learning environment for all children including those with SEND both indoors and out and proactively help them manage their environments and have plans to continue to improve their nursery.

Job requirements
Full and relevant Early Years qualification
Significant experience in early years SEND provision
A deep and secure understanding of Special Educational Needs/Inclusion and strategies that support those with SEND
Exemplary understanding of the EYFS
Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice 2015
Experience as a SENCO
A strong understanding and working knowledge of the OFSTED toolkit
Understanding of the EHCP process and graduated response
A strong safeguarding track record, and a detailed working knowledge of current safeguarding legislation, policy and good practice relating to children, young people and adults.
Confidence in creating and delivering SEND and Inclusion training
Ability to evaluate internal, risk and compliance
Excellent organizational and audit skills
Comprehensive understanding of health and safety requirements
Working knowledge of equal opportunities legislation
Paediatric first aid
Satisfactory Enhanced DBS check
A full UK driving license and the use of a car for travel across all Toad Hall sites
